Privacy Policy
Effective date: 17 October 2026
This policy explains what the Cat Translator: Meow Talk iOS app (“Meow Talk”, “we”) collects, why, and what you can do about it. Meow Talk is an entertainment app: Professor Whiskers listens to your cat's meow and makes a playful AI guess at their mood. It is not a real translation and not veterinary advice. If anything here is unclear, email talzvi99@gmail.com.
We don't ask you to create an account
Meow Talk has no sign-up, no login and no password. We don't ask for your name, your address or your phone number, and we don't build a profile tied to your real-world identity.
What stays on your device (and your own iCloud)
The following is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad, and — if you are signed in to iCloud — synced to your own private iCloud account (via CloudKit) so it follows you to a new device. It is stored in your Apple account, not ours; we cannot read it. To stop this, turn off iCloud for Meow Talk in your device's Settings.
- Meow recordings and readings — each clip you record (up to 8 seconds) and the mood reading Meow Talk returns for it, so you can play it back any time. You can delete any recording from the app.
- Your cat's profile — name, age, breed, personality, and a photo if you add one. The photo stays on your device (and your iCloud); it never leaves your device except when you choose to include it in a video you create and share yourself.
Deleting the app removes this data from your device.
What we and our providers collect
Meow readings
Meow Talk only listens when you tap record. An on-device classifier first checks whether the clip actually contains a cat sound. If it does, the clip (up to 8 seconds) is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our server (a Cloudflare Worker) and from there to Google's Gemini API to produce the mood reading. We do not store the audio after we return the reading. We keep a hash of the audio — not the audio itself — for up to 7 days, so that if you submit the exact same clip again we can return the same reading instead of generating a new one. The clip and the reading are saved on your own device and iCloud, as described above.
Cat profile
Your cat's name, age, breed, personality and photo stay on your device and your own iCloud. We don't receive or store them on our servers, and the photo never leaves your device except when you choose to share a video you made with it.
Usage and diagnostic data
We use PostHog (United States), a first-party product analytics service, to understand how the app is used — which screens are opened and which features are used — tied to a random, pseudonymous install identifier, not to your name or contact details. This is product analytics only: there is no advertising, no tracking across other apps or websites, no Apple App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt, and your data is never sold.
Purchases and subscriptions
Readings are sold through optional subscriptions, billed and managed entirely through your Apple ID / App Store account. We never see or receive your payment card details — Apple handles the transaction. We use Adapty to process subscription status, which means Adapty receives the same random, pseudonymous install identifier and your subscription status on our behalf.
Device integrity
To stop abuse of the reading service (for example, scripts pretending to be the app), Meow Talk uses Apple's App Attest and DeviceCheck to generate a device integrity token that is sent to our server with each request. It identifies the device, not you, and is used only to protect the server from abuse.
Advertising
Meow Talk shows no ads and includes no advertising SDKs. There is no ad tracking, and your data is never sold.
Messages you send us
If you email support or send feedback, we keep what you send — including your email address — so we can reply and act on it.
Who else your data goes to
We don't sell your data and we don't share it with anyone beyond the providers that make the app work:
- Apple — app distribution, payments, iCloud sync, and device integrity (App Attest / DeviceCheck)
- Google (Gemini API) — processes the meow clip you submit to produce a mood reading
- Adapty — subscription status management
- PostHog (United States) — pseudonymous, first-party product analytics
- Cloudflare — hosts the service that passes your reading request through, and hosts this website
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Children
Meow Talk is rated 4+ and is a general-audience entertainment app. It has no accounts and no ads, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what is described in this policy. If you are a parent or guardian with a question about your child's use of the app, email us and we'll help.
Your rights and deleting your data
Depending on where you live — including the EEA and UK under the GDPR, and California under the CCPA — you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You can delete your recordings and cat profile at any time from inside the app, or by removing them in your device's Settings; this removes them from your device and your iCloud. For anything held by us or our providers, email talzvi99@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
Data retention and security
We keep no meow audio on our server after a reading is produced — only a hash of the clip, for up to 7 days, to avoid re-processing an identical clip. We keep pseudonymous usage data only as long as it's useful for improving the app, and support correspondence only as long as needed to resolve your issue and keep a record of it. Data in transit is encrypted using industry-standard TLS. No system is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect and store precisely so there is little to expose.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, tell you in the app.
